Information security standards and best practices are all headed toward the same goal: solid and scalable systems that protect IT assets and privacy. An important step that will lead to the growing importance of privacy on an international level is about to take place this year. The drawback is that many ISO 27001/27701 implementation projects take time, money, blood, sweat and tears. As with many aspects of GDPR compliance, it is ultimately a decision as to whether the long-term benefits can justify the sometimes arduous process of getting the certification based on the context and data processed by the organisation.
