  • Tiarma Witte

    Chief Technical Officer

    Low-Code Academy

Come learn about low-code, a fifth generation software development. You have to understand the logic, but no longer have to know the coding language.

This changes the speed, and requirements of developers a lot. One can learn the basics after a few weeks, and people without a technical background will be able to add business value within months.

Business potential also changes; it’s possible to create software for your company very fast, in close collaboration with the business and on a smaller budget. Gartner predicts that, by 2026, around 75% of all new software will be created in low code!

Technology is supposed to be for everyone, though at the moment, technology does not represent everyone. Let’s change that with low code!

The Why: There is a big demand for more automation and digital transformation, and very little inclusion in tech. Low-code offers a solution to both.

Session Key Takeaways:

  • Understand what low code is and what it can do for you
  • How low code can help include underrepresented groups
  • How to get started with low code

This session is for you if…

  • You are working at a business that wants to build or extend in-house software
  • You are looking for the code/platform to serve your future development needs
  • Your company is at the beginning of a digital transformation

Smart adoption and implementation of new technologies hinge on your ability to communicate effectively with decision makers. You need to first understand their unique mindset, and then present bottom-line data and recommendations in their “language.” In this interactive workshop, you’ll learn how to do both.

Ineffective communication is making the smart adoption of AI and other new technologies challenging. Think of it as a “Mars and Venus” conversation, where, for example . . .

The business hears about AI solutions in the media and wants it, without fully understanding its capabilities.

Technical specialists struggle to explain what AI can do for the business and how best to implement it.

Frustration grows, time and money is wasted, projects don’t meet deadlines, businesses fail to meet their goals, and budgets are exceeded.

The Solution:  Improve communication between technologists and decision makers

Session Key Takeaways:

  • Understand the executive mindset to create effective communications.
  • Learn and practice an Executive Framework to develop the most clear and persuasive Opening, Key Points, and Closing Statement.
  • Employ tools to help you analyse your audience, anticipate questions, and facilitate a dynamic dialogue.

This session is for… Mid- to senior-level technology experts who need to drive the smart adoption and implementation of AI and other new technologies by effectively communicating with decision makers.

Modernising Legacy Systems: Mindset Drives Change

    Adyen

Should you join a company with the latest tech or one with a legacy system? This is a common dilemma for developers. Join us to discuss how modernising legacy systems is driven by mindset, and why the hottest new tech isn’t always the best reason to choose a job.
Developers often believe working with new technologies drives growth, but legacy systems can also adapt to the digital world. Modernising these systems requires a proactive mindset and the willingness to lead change. Systems don’t change themselves; they need a gradual push from innovative developers.
Session Key Takeaways:
  • Carefully evaluate upgrades to newer technologies and consider their impact on the overall system. Avoid over engineering and forcing new tech into the current framework simply because it’s popular elsewhere.
  • Be patient and take time to understand your current architecture. Only then will you be able to move towards the technology that is best suited for your company’s needs.
  • Don’t go on face value. Tech stacks are not the only motivation for developers – a good company culture also plays an important role. The better the culture, the more adaptive of change.

Who is this session perfect for?

You are a developer struggling with legacy systems and trying to find opportunities to modernize it.

The network is the foundation for digital transformation and today digital innovation is being fused together with humans and technology. You cannot deliver AI solutions (e.g. LLM / ChatGPT), you cannot deliver Digital Twins, you cannot collect the data created by all the “machinery” that is needed for digitalization and automation if you do not have a network that scales for it, that dynamically adapts and that provides the security required to lower the cyber attack risk. And by the way for the EU you also need a network that delivers on these parameters to be compliant with the new NIS2 directive requirements coming.

Session Key takeaways:

    • How to apply Human and Digital Collaboration – Showcasing examples of how collaboration between humans and digital technologies is driving innovation across industries, from healthcare to education to retail to hospitality.
    • Cyber Security & Data Privacy – Assessing the risks posed by increased digital interconnectedness and strategies to safeguard personal data and critical infrastructure. In addition, understanding how this aligns to the new NIS2 directive.
    • Importance of bringing together the networking and security functions of your business by leveraging technology and AI to enable your people to drive business transformation.

The world of Data Science is an exciting and ever-evolving landscape. My five-year journey as Data Scientist has been a mix of achievements and setbacks, addressing complex real-world business use cases that required the application of machine learning.
Recently stepping into a managerial role within the same domain has opened a door to reflection, allowing me to reassess my past experiences through different lenses.

As tech becomes a bigger and more integral part of our lives, it is imperative that the people making decisions about it represent the people using it. Women are 50% of the population, but in Europe they occupy only around 5% of the executive positions and 11% of the managerial positions in tech. If we want technology to improve equality rather than worsen it, we need to understand what obstacles are currently preventing women from obtaining these positions, and how to remove them.
Why is tech leadership such a male-dominated space, even more than tech in general? And what should companies do about it? we’ll explore how, rather than seeing gender inequality as a “glass ceiling” that women have to break through, the path to leadership is more like a labyrinth. There are many ways to navigate the labyrinth, and there are obstacles along the way. The talk will not only explain what actions companies can do to support women through this journey, but also what they can do to help them once they reach their goals.
Session Key Takeaways:
  • Learn about the labyrinth of leadership and how that translates to possible actions
  • Gain insight into what obstacles women face on their journey to leadership
  • Understand why women leave leadership and what we can do about it
Who is this session perfect for?
