Session Overview
AI systems are becoming an increasingly integral part of our daily lives. While they have the power to reach millions of users, there are concerns about their potential to replicate or even amplify existing social biases, as well as cause harm. Despite the declaration of ethical AI principles by private and public organisations, practitioners often struggle to bridge the gap between abstract concepts and practical decisions in the development cycle of AI.
In this talk, we’ll delve into the importance of AI ethics and why everyone involved in the development of these systems should share accountability. We’ll explore why implementing ethical principles in AI is crucial, and how to detect bias and evaluate fairness in ML models. Our aim is to provide a global perspective on this topic and specific guidelines for practical implementation.
In the session we will discuss with the audience the different challenges of bringing AI ethics into practice and open a debate about why we need AI ethics integrated in the development cycle of AI now more than ever after the recently released large language models like ChatGPT.
This session is for you if...you are interested in or working in AI, including data scientists, data engineers, designers, product managers, and business leaders. While those with some knowledge of AI will benefit more from the last part on algorithmic fairness, the overall talk is designed to address a wide audience. Join us for an eye-opening discussion on the importance of AI ethics and how to implement ethical principles in your work.
