Should you join a company with the latest tech or one with a legacy system? This is a common dilemma for developers. Join us to discuss how modernising legacy systems is driven by mindset, and why the hottest new tech isn’t always the best reason to choose a job.
Developers often believe working with new technologies drives growth, but legacy systems can also adapt to the digital world. Modernising these systems requires a proactive mindset and the willingness to lead change. Systems don’t change themselves; they need a gradual push from innovative developers.
Session Key Takeaways:
  • Carefully evaluate upgrades to newer technologies and consider their impact on the overall system. Avoid over engineering and forcing new tech into the current framework simply because it’s popular elsewhere.
  • Be patient and take time to understand your current architecture. Only then will you be able to move towards the technology that is best suited for your company’s needs.
  • Don’t go on face value. Tech stacks are not the only motivation for developers – a good company culture also plays an important role. The better the culture, the more adaptive of change.
