Speaker Bio
Paola Masuzzo is the lead data scientist at the Innovation Site Europe of TPVision, the license holder for Philips TV and Sound. Emigrated in Belgium 12 years ago, she obtained a PhD in Bioinformatics at Ghent University, working on data and computational algorithms for cancer cell migration.
She joined TPVision in 2017, and has since been committed to help the organization transition to more and more data-driven decision making and processes. She is a full-time data scientist, a half time independent researcher and a half time open knowledge evangelist.
She has been a Research Data Alliance fellow and a ContentMine fellow, and has founded the Civic Lab Ghent. She also sits in the global board of onData, an Italian organization that promotes the publication and reuse of public data. Paola is a strong believer of the transformative power of data and of the need to democratize access to these.
Fun Fact: Paola collects rubber ducks of all sorts and colours, and is a big fan of Seinfeld, the series.
