The non-terrestrial digital transformation is currently underway, marking the space industry’s most significant journey into the digital realm to date. A critical question in this transformative period is how we can harness the predictive powers of artificial intelligence to enhance life on Earth through satellite technology.
My name is Sanna Sandberg, and I’m dedicating my professional life to exploring this very question. As a Ground Segment Engineer for AI and cloud solutions within the Directorate for Connectivity and Secure Communications at the European Space Agency (ESA), I have the privilege of working on ground-breaking initiatives that integrate artificial intelligence and cloud computing into the Satcom industry using the tools of the ARTES Programme (Advanced Research in Telecommunications Systems).
My journey into this field began with a Master’s degree in Systems, Control, and Mechatronics from Chalmers University of Technology. Building upon this foundation, I started my professional career as a Radar Systems Engineer for airborne radar systems in Sweden. Now I’m based at ESA’s technical heart and largest facility in the Netherlands.
